Happy, Happy Birthday

This is 17!!

In the midst of all this craziness this week, we were able to slow down a bit and celebrate the birthday of our Bean. Actually, it seems fitting that his birthday was the calm in the storm this week, just like he tends to be. Henry's the deep breath that everyone should take right now. The gentle and compassionate way that you hope folks would take on right now. 

Happy birthday to our Aloha baby! Henry, you make Dad and I proud every single day. You make us laugh, and best of all, you make us wonder. Some people are described as "open books", but not you. You pave your way way, on your own time. I wouldn't change that for the world. Every day with you brings a newness to the family that only you provide. Beansie, your potential knows no bounds and I can not wait to see what you do with that. 

I love you Hen and I wish for you another year of wonder, of health, of happiness, and of love!

Florida Farewell

Our last sunset in Florida didn't disappoint.  Honestly, it wasn't an emotional farewell though.  I always felt like our time in Florida was fleeting. As a family, we transitioned the kids in and out of the house over summers, and in and out again. In two short years we transitioned through different schools and jobs and friends. These last two years especially, I felt like a transient. Never quite settled.  Now, it's time to settle. I'd like to plant some roots, even if they aren't deep and forever at our next assignment. Like us, they just need to be strong for the season.  Eglin AFB, Florida  1 June 2023
