A Major Award

When Matt left Eglin at the end of May he was awarded the Legion of Merit for his 2 year Command and for his work during the Covid response. This past week the AFSOC leadership presented made it official and had a short ceremony. Typically, the Headquarters building is off limits to civilians, but somehow, I was invited to attend...and then was quickly escorted out of the building when the ceremony was over. 

It was super cool to be there though. I totally felt like a stealth visitor, and couldn't be more proud of Matt!

Florida Farewell

Our last sunset in Florida didn't disappoint.  Honestly, it wasn't an emotional farewell though.  I always felt like our time in Florida was fleeting. As a family, we transitioned the kids in and out of the house over summers, and in and out again. In two short years we transitioned through different schools and jobs and friends. These last two years especially, I felt like a transient. Never quite settled.  Now, it's time to settle. I'd like to plant some roots, even if they aren't deep and forever at our next assignment. Like us, they just need to be strong for the season.  Eglin AFB, Florida  1 June 2023
