Camp Helen State Park

Two weekends ago we went to Camp Helen State Park in Panama City Beach and it was so cool! The state park has one of the largest coastal dune lakes in Florida, so you get the best of both worlds - kayaking on a lake and swimming in the ocean. We pretty much had the place to ourselves and will definitely be back! 

It's been interesting to figure out what weekends look like with just the three of us, but we're making it happen. Fingers crossed Viv doesn't get sick of Matt and I anytime soon!!

Florida Farewell

Our last sunset in Florida didn't disappoint.  Honestly, it wasn't an emotional farewell though.  I always felt like our time in Florida was fleeting. As a family, we transitioned the kids in and out of the house over summers, and in and out again. In two short years we transitioned through different schools and jobs and friends. These last two years especially, I felt like a transient. Never quite settled.  Now, it's time to settle. I'd like to plant some roots, even if they aren't deep and forever at our next assignment. Like us, they just need to be strong for the season.  Eglin AFB, Florida  1 June 2023
