Fifty-one!

Happy birthday to the one with the loudest laugh around. Happy birthday to the one that always has a plan for adventure. Happy birthday to the one who loves the pig and the dog (almost) as much as he loves his own kids. Happy birthday to the one that is sarcastic and sensitive and kind and hilarious. 

Happy birthday to the one. The one that is mine.

Florida Farewell

Our last sunset in Florida didn't disappoint.  Honestly, it wasn't an emotional farewell though.  I always felt like our time in Florida was fleeting. As a family, we transitioned the kids in and out of the house over summers, and in and out again. In two short years we transitioned through different schools and jobs and friends. These last two years especially, I felt like a transient. Never quite settled.  Now, it's time to settle. I'd like to plant some roots, even if they aren't deep and forever at our next assignment. Like us, they just need to be strong for the season.  Eglin AFB, Florida  1 June 2023
