Pinchot Bear

The Pinchot bear strikes again... and doesn't clean up after himself...

Quote of the Day by Henry

After the hurricane I sent Henry to Ace Hardware to buy work gloves so we could start cleaning the backyard...it apparently changed his life... Henry: Momma! I get it! I totally get Ace Hardware!  I just wondered around there for an hour and they have everything! I didn't even know what any of that stuff was! I almost bought a $36.00 rake for no reason! It was just a super cool looking rake! I totally get it!!

Castaways

Image
Found a castaway island yesterday.  The water was still dark and murky from the hurricane so we had the place to ourselves. Yup. That's a mailbox in the background.  A mailbox and a suitcase and lots of other smaller (less weird) things were washed ashore And only in Florida... Filed under "I can't make this stuff up"

New Day

It's amazing what a difference just a few days can make

Hurricane Sally

Image
Global pandemic, quarantine, homeschool...why not throw in a hurricane?? Monday morning Tuesday morning  Tuesday afternoon Tuesday afternoon when it started to pick up and I stopped going outside... still about 12 hours from landfall Sally made landfall at about 5:00am Wednesday morning...overnight was the worst. Honestly, I don't think I've ever been that scared, and yes, I know. It was only a Cat 2 and it didn't even hit us directly. Got it. Noted.  Even so,  it was terrifying for me and I'll totally own that. The sounds of the wind and debris hitting the house and the windows coupled with the darkness was almost too much for me. I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep so I didn't even get into bed on Monday night. I was up all night in the living room. Matt tried to sleep on and off but at 4:00 am we had a tornado warning so he went to the Hen House to get Henry. I thought Hen would be a ball of nerves, but no. Henry was dead asleep and not very amused that

Texas Trip 2020

Image
It had been 7 months since I saw my family in Texas so Vivian and I made the 11-hour drive last weekend. It's hard to be away for so long, for so many reasons, but one of them is that sometimes when you're gone for so long, going back seems ten times harder. Change is more apparent when you're gone for such a long stretch. It doesn't mean that change doesn't happen though. Regardless, it was good to be home. It's always good to be home. First stop is always Buccee's! Getting in a good WOD with Uncle Marcus  And a day of baking with Aunt Kathy! In San Antonio Abby was super excited to see us. Haha! But meeting this little girl for the first time was the highlight of our week! Vivian got her birthday wish...she picked out her first guitar with Uncle Eric More Parks...the happiest baby on earth! Was even lucky enough to see the Garcia girls! Too bad we never have any fun together :) Hop
