Roll Tide 2022

Image
This past weekend we moved Henry back to the University of Alabama! He was so ready to get back to it. Not necessarily back to Tuscaloosa, but back to classes and his fraternity and all of the new things that this semester will bring. His major change from Chemistry to  Chemical Engineering is probably what he's most excited about!  The house was much too quiet today...it feels like we downshifted from 100 to 0, overnight, but I know that all my people are out doing good things!  So roll tide, Hen!! Roll tide! I was crying before we even left the driveway  because I hate to see the boys have to say goodbye to Wicket.  I'm ridiculous, I know! Henry's new digs... Crazy that this is college living now!! 3 of the same...one newbie  Viv got to be move-in crew this time too!  It just never gets easier...

Today I'm driving Henry back up to Tuscaloosa.  It seems perfect to be spending this day with him.  My rainbow after the storm.

Class of 2026

Vivian's first day of high school was yesterday...her 5th school in 5 years! She was a bundle of nerves when we were driving there. She contemplated just working at Home Depot for the rest of her life instead of actually going to school...she thought the kids in the parking lot were waaayy too big...she thought the football players were going to trample her...and she thought she'd have to eat lunch alone.  None of that happened though! She had a great first day. It wasn't perfect but it was the best she had hoped for! She met some nice kids, she liked her classes and she didn't have to quit to go work at Home Depot :)  August 2013 First day of kindergarten  Stratford Landing Elementary School  August 2022 First day of high school  Destin High School

AmeriCorps and the real world called.   The day after we got back home from Colorado, Maxwell was off. It should've been two days after we got home, but we missed our original flight and...anyhow.  On that Tuesday morning, Matt and Henry went to work, and Maxwell, Viv and I loaded up the U-Haul and headed to Knoxville. Viv was so excited to be a part of this moving crew...she was always in school when he left for Lyco so this was her first official move-in. There was a lot of driving, a lot of sweat, and (as always) some tears, but the three of us got it done!  Go answer that call, Moose. Go out and do great things!! Breckenridge CO 2022

I used to not want to vacation anywhere twice. The wanderlust in me said that you can never recreate someplace you've lived or visited or loved more than once.  The past three summers have convinced me though, unequivocally, that that isn't true. Since we first lived in Colorado in 2007, I have loved Breckenridge. When we went back to Colorado in 2016, I feel in love with Breck even more. For me, it's the perfect mountain town. We've been in there in every season, but hands down, summer time is the best. Summer in Breckenridge, Colorado is my place. Someday, I'd love to have a little condo there...maybe a house that Matt and I and the kids and their (someday) kids, can grow into. I have my favorite places to eat and shop and sit and walk, my favorite trails, my favorite flowers, my favorite wine shop, my favorite lake, my favorite lookout, and always, my favorite people.  This year was no exception. I'm already counting down the days until next summer.  Jennie a
