15 Years Ago Tonight...

Image
The night before Viv's birthday Matt and I were remembering what we were doing at that time 15 years ago... We went out to to eat by ourselves while my mom and dad watched the boys. Southwestern egg rolls from Chili's were calling my name and since I was going to be induced the next morning, they seemed like the right answer to a "last supper". I was 8 days past my due date (just like the other two) and was so ready to be done, although no one tells you that the real work starts after you're "done". After dinner we went home to settle the boys in and go over the next days plan with my parents again. Matt and I were supposed to be at the hospital at 6:00am for induction, so we would have to leave about 5:15. We told the boys goodnight and that we'd call them the next evening whenever after their sister made her appearance.  Their sister had a different plan. Around midnight I woke up feeling off, went to the bathroom and decided that those southwester...

Roll Tide 2022

This past weekend we moved Henry back to the University of Alabama! He was so ready to get back to it. Not necessarily back to Tuscaloosa, but back to classes and his fraternity and all of the new things that this semester will bring. His major change from Chemistry to  Chemical Engineering is probably what he's most excited about!  The house was much too quiet today...it feels like we downshifted from 100 to 0, overnight, but I know that all my people are out doing good things!  So roll tide, Hen!! Roll tide! I was crying before we even left the driveway  because I hate to see the boys have to say goodbye to Wicket.  I'm ridiculous, I know! Henry's new digs... Crazy that this is college living now!! 3 of the same...one newbie  Viv got to be move-in crew this time too!  It just never gets easier...

Class of 2026

Vivian's first day of high school was yesterday...her 5th school in 5 years! She was a bundle of nerves when we were driving there. She contemplated just working at Home Depot for the rest of her life instead of actually going to school...she thought the kids in the parking lot were waaayy too big...she thought the football players were going to trample her...and she thought she'd have to eat lunch alone.  None of that happened though! She had a great first day. It wasn't perfect but it was the best she had hoped for! She met some nice kids, she liked her classes and she didn't have to quit to go work at Home Depot :)  August 2013 First day of kindergarten  Stratford Landing Elementary School  August 2022 First day of high school  Destin High School

AmeriCorps and the real world called.   The day after we got back home from Colorado, Maxwell was off. It should've been two days after we got home, but we missed our original flight and...anyhow.  On that Tuesday morning, Matt and Henry went to work, and Maxwell, Viv and I loaded up the U-Haul and headed to Knoxville. Viv was so excited to be a part of this moving crew...she was always in school when he left for Lyco so this was her first official move-in. There was a lot of driving, a lot of sweat, and (as always) some tears, but the three of us got it done!  Go answer that call, Moose. Go out and do great things!! Tennessee River Line Project  Day 1!
